Sometimes there is so much going on in our heads that it can make feeling happy seem like you’re chasing a Golden Snitch.
A nice first step is to get it all out so you can take a step back to see the bigger picture.
You simply put pen to paper and write. No editing, you don’t even need to write neatly. Just dump it all out.
You can even type into a computer keyboard if you can type fast enough.
Allow all the mind clouds to rain through your words and leave behind only a clear bright blue mind.
Then (since things never go that well in reality) taking three slow conscious breaths is a great, super fast way to zero yourself back into the moment and literally reduce your adrenaline and cortisol (the stress hormone).
By this point your mind might be clear and objective enough to figure out something productive to do next rather than keep on going around in mental circles.
