Scientists estimate if we cured cancer tomorrow, we would add between 3 – 4 years on average life expectancies for men and women in the developed world. Research from Yale university studying death rates and life expectancy, identified a repeatable extension of average life expectancy of around 7.5 years for people that were more positive and happy! Other studies estimate between 8 – 12 years
Heart disease is an even bigger story, and is by a considerable margin the number one cause of death in the US and UK and many other countries. A 2012 US study from Harvard identified that “the most optimistic individuals had an approximately 50% reduced risk of experiencing an initial cardiovascular event compared to their less optimistic peers”.
