One contributing element of Happiness comes from the sense of accomplishment when we achieve something valuable to us.
Warren Buffett uses the below Three Step Process to goal Achievement. Self-achievement helps us develop the “Support Yourself” building block in our Building of Happiness framework.
STEP 1: Write down your top 25 goals. Maybe Career goals or you could choose goals for a shorter timeline such as the top 25 things you want to accomplish this week.
STEP 2: Then, review this list and circle the top 5 goals.
Note: If you’re following along at home, pause right now and do these first two steps before moving on to Step 3.
STEP 3: At this point, you have two lists. The 5 items he had circled were List A and the 20 items he had not circled were List B.
The top 5 are your primary focus, but although the other 20 come in a close second you MUST NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF THINKING YOU CAN WORK ON THEM INTERMITTENTLY.
Everything you didn’t circle just became your Avoid-At-All-Cost list. No matter what, these things get no attention from you until you’ve succeeded with your top 5.
